CCC Inclement Weather Procedures

In the winter months, it is important to review procedures for school closing or delayed starts due to snow and inclement weather.

Cass Career Center will not call for a virtual learning day unless there is a foreseeable storm that could result in several days out of school. In that case, virtual learning will be announced prior to the probable weather event. Please see the AMI schedule posted below. 

The Harrisonville School District, which includes Cass Career Center, may delay the opening of school by two hours when it appears weather conditions might improve. The decision to close school or to delay the opening of school by two hours will be made by 5:30 a.m. to allow ample time for the media to broadcast this decision. When school is delayed by two hours, Cass Career Center will begin classes for Harrisonville students ONLY at 9:40 a.m. Sending school students for morning classes will NOT attend CCC; only sending school students for afternoon classes will attend.

Local Kansas City TV stations (4, 5, 9, and 41) will be notified by the Harrisonville School District of any delay, early dismissal, or cancellation of school. Harrisonville will also use Facebook (www.facebook.com/HvilleSchools), Twitter (@HvilleSchools), and the district website. Please check multiple sources for school district notifications when the weather is questionable. In the event that one of our sending schools cancels school and the Harrisonville School District does not cancel school, that school’s students SHOULD NOT ATTEND Cass Career Center. If a student’s home school has decided it is not safe enough to travel to school, we do not want our students on the road.

The decision to hold school or not to hold school is always a difficult one. Every effort will be made to consider the safety of the students, the safety of the faculty, and the convenience of parents when making such decisions. Your cooperation and assistance are appreciated. It is always the parent or guardian’s decision to determine the safety of their child during inclement weather.
